![]() ![]() My plan is to use the "Gui installer" using a esxi 7.0 HPE ISO and attaching it VIA ILO and going through the upgrade process, before that I plan on exporting the esxi host configuration and having a backup esxi 6.0 USB drive available if the update fails Is this an acceptable upgrade process? I have the esxi upgrade doc and it seems as simple as put in boot media, select upgrade, done. when I open vsphere it says our license is "VMware vsphere 6 hypervisor licensed for 2 physical CPU's (unlimited cores per CPU)" and product features "up to 8 way virtual SMP" will I have issues with licensing after the update given this is what it says for my license? Our other admin seems to think the server was installed using the free esxi license, I do not see us licensed for 6.0 if I go into our my.vmware portal. I see on the compatibility table that it can only run up to version 6.0 which I'm told is no longer downloadable. I need to upgrade it to a version that allows me to use Veeam on it. We're using an old Dell PowerEdge R720 ESXi host that is running 5.5 (free version). I am relatively new to the organization and have been tasked with upgrading the server to 7.0. Installing VMware 7.0 on Dell PowerEdge R720. In the opened wizard, enter the license key and click Check license to verify whether the license key is valid. Select Manage, then click on Licensing > Assign license. ![]() So we have a D元80 G9 server that has esxi loaded (no vcenter management). Open VMware ESXi web and enter the IP address of the ESXi host that you want to license. ![]()
